Breaking Down Money Management

In Layman Terms

I hope this newsletter finds you excited and ready to seize the opportunities that college life has to offer.

Today, we’re diving into a topic that is often both exciting and overwhelming: Money Management. Don’t worry; we’re going to break it down into relatable terms, so you can confidently deal with your way to financial freedom.

Side Hustles

Picture this: you have a passion for photography, and your friends often compliment your skills. Why not turn that passion into a side hustle? Offer to take graduation or event photos for your fellow students and charge a reasonable fee. Not only will you earn some extra cash, but you’ll also get to do what you love!

Budgeting

Imagine you have a limited supply of your most-liked snacks. You wouldn’t want to finish them all at once, right? You’d taste them over time to make them last. Well, a budget works the same way! It helps you divide your money wisely, so you can cover all your needs and still have some left for the occasional treat.

Saving and Investing

Saving money is like planting seeds; it may seem small at first, but over time, it grows into something much more significant. Let’s say you save a portion of your pocket money, or a portion of your part-time job earnings each month. As your savings grow, you can invest them in a high-interest savings account or explore options like investing in stocks or any relevant assets. These small steps today can lead to big financial wins in the future.

Debt Management

Imagine you borrowed money from a friend and promised to pay them back by the end of the month. But, oops! You spent more than you planned, and now you’re short on cash. You don’t want to let your friend down, so you come up with a plan to pay them back gradually over the next few weeks. That’s debt management – coming up with a responsible plan to repay what you owe. Ensure you do not break your friendship, as most such relationships are broken due to money!
