After Class 12 – Don’t End Up Studying Something You Don’t Even Like

Too many students realize after graduation that they don’t even enjoy what they studied. Sounds scary, right? But this happens way more often than you think; even after your class 12

I’m not asking you to take a one-year break to figure things out. But before you finalize your course or college, take just a month or two to do this:

1️⃣ Talk to 3 of Your Seniors in That Field

Find school seniors who are already studying or working in the field you’re interested in. Ask them:

  • “What does your daily work/study routine look like?”
  • “What do you like about this field?”
  • “What do you wish you had known before choosing this path?”

If their answers sound boring or stressful to you, rethink your choices.

2️⃣ Explore Other Career Options Through Online Courses

Before locking in a course, get a taste of other subjects. Use platforms like:

  • Coursera & Udemy for structured learning.
  • YouTube for free, beginner-friendly introductions.

Take a 1-week roadmap/course in something you’re curious about. If it excites you, maybe that’s worth exploring further!

3️⃣ Get Real-World Exposure with an Internship

Books and classes will never tell you what real work feels like. Try a short-term, unpaid internship in a field you’re considering. Even 2–4 weeks will give you clarity on:

  • What the actual work environment is like.
  • Whether it’s something you enjoy doing every day.
  • If you see yourself doing this for years.

Confirm Before You Commit!

Once school is over, don’t rush into admissions and counseling just because everyone else is doing it. Take a little time to experiment now instead of realizing later that you’re stuck in the wrong career.

Know someone in Class 12? Share this with them and save their future!

And for all my fellow seniors—we might have fallen into this trap, but let’s make sure our juniors don’t! Screenshot this post and send it to them! If needed, share it in their parents’ WhatsApp groups too! 😆

Cheers 🚀
