From Escaping, to Embracing, I’ve come a long way…
I hope this newsletter finds you well, brimming with motivation, and ready to take up new adventures. Today, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the power of embracing change and finding strength within ourselves.
Life is a constant series of changes, both big and small. Some changes are expected, while others catch us completely unprepared. But regardless of their nature, each change brings with it an opportunity for growth and self-discovery.
I have personally experienced the transformative power of embracing change. There have been moments in my life when unexpected twists and turns forced me to step out of my comfort zone and face new challenges head-on.
During my school days, I’d do anything to escape from any speech or reading in front of my class. But, in my first year of college, I was put into a situation where I had to stand in front of almost 60 people and do an impromptu speech about ragging in colleges. Unlike the usual first years, I spoke in favour of ragging, which grabbed the attention of many. It was unintentional, though. Yet, I was authentic with what I said. The best part was that after I completed my chance and went back to my seat, I requested the staff for another chance to tell something that I just remembered. It was what my dad really told me –
“College life is like a sugar cane. When you start eating from the top, the first part will be a little bitter. But, as you eat further… the sweetness keeps increasing. The final part of the sugarcane has the best taste, and so is the final year“ _Ganesan S
This brought me a lot of claps, and people gave me a feeling that I was a good speaker. I still don’t know how I was able to do it. From being a student who would do anything to escape such scenarios, to becoming a student who would ask for another chance to speak in front of a 60+ audience, these unease and uncertain moments ultimately became catalysts for personal and professional growth.
I’ve learned that change pushes us to develop new skills, expand our horizons, and adapt to unfamiliar situations. Seriously, I cannot imagine myself not taking that chance that day. I’m pretty sure I’d not be here with a stat of speaking to over 1000+ students in my last 5 years of journey. It definitely enables us to navigate life’s ever-changing landscape with grace and confidence.
But let’s be honest: Change is not always easy. It can be intimidating, overwhelming, and even scary at times. That’s why it’s crucial to find strength within ourselves during these periods of transition.
Strength is not the absence of fear; it’s the ability to push forward despite it.
With that said, I encourage you to reflect on your own journey and the changes you have encountered. How have they shaped you? What lessons have you learned along the way? Embrace your unique story and share it with others, as your experiences can inspire and empower those around you.
We are all on this journey together, supporting and uplifting one another. Let’s celebrate the power of change and the strength that resides within each of us.
Thank you for being part of my incredible community. Until next time, stay resilient, embrace change, and continue shining brightly.
Cheers,
G Surendar Thina
