The Power of Connections
I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and high spirits. Today, I want to share a topic that is well-relatable to all of you: the power of connections and the lifelong friendships we build during our college years.
College is a time of exploration, growth, and self-discovery. It’s a phase where we meet individuals from diverse backgrounds with unique experiences and aspirations. Some of these encounters may turn into casual acquaintances, but others have the potential to become lifelong friends.
I’m reminded of the significant impact that friendships made during my college days on my own life. These connections go beyond sharing study notes or hanging out during breaks. My friends used to be the pillars of support, the cheerleaders during our highs, and the shoulders to lean on during our lows.
I still remember that there was a time when I went off track with academics, kept myself inside the hostel rooms, and didn’t show up to college. My roommate was my constant source of motivation to bring me back to normal.
Friendships formed in college are often forged through shared experiences, late-night conversations, and the joy of discovering common passions. These friends become an integral part of our personal and professional growth, supporting us through the challenges and celebrating our successes.
Out of nowhere, we joined hands to shoot a short film, which never came out. We organized events, games, workshops, etc. Nothing of those would’ve been possible without the support of my friends.
In this fast-paced world, where technology connects us virtually but sometimes leaves us feeling isolated, genuine connections become even more important. The laughter shared over a cup of coffee, the late-night study sessions and the shared dreams and aspirations create bonds that can last a lifetime.
When we were in our hometowns, we got connected via online contests, hackathons, etc. That kept us moving. We almost did 53 hours of sleepless coding during one of our semester breaks, during my second-year holidays.
But building these connections requires effort and vulnerability. It means stepping out of our comfort zones, initiating conversations, and actively seeking common ground. It means being open to new experiences and embracing the diversity of perspectives that surround us.
To me, connecting with new people was always a problem. Once I got connected, it was easy to keep up a flow with them. Now, it has just become the opposite, lol. I’m able to connect with anyone new; but not able to keep it up in a flow.
As we take the next steps in the ever-changing landscape of college life, I encourage you to nurture and cherish the connections you form.
Take the time to reach out, listen attentively, and offer support to your friends. Attend college events, participate in group activities, and be present in the lives of those around you.
It’s not just about the number of friends you have but also the quality of those connections.
Value the friendships that uplift you, challenge you, and stand the test of time. Surround yourself with individuals who inspire and motivate you to be the best version of yourself. Let’s celebrate the power of connections and the friendships we’ve built or are yet to discover.
Reach out to that friend you haven’t spoken to in a while, or take a moment to appreciate those who have been by your side through thick and thin.
Share the joy of genuine connections by forwarding this newsletter to someone who has made a positive impact on your college experience.
Let’s spread the warmth and strength of these connections to create a community that supports and uplifts one another.
Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.
Regards,
Thina
